Saturday morning play at Nana's

Emma came over early this morning and stayed through her afternoon nap. Mommy needed a much deserved break. We went non-stop and accomplished the following many activities packed into our morning before her nap -

  • Swim time in Nana's Whale Pool on the patio

  • Rocking and story time on the porch (3 little pigs is the current favorite)

  • Snack - Apple juice and fruit snacks (4 packs of fruit snacks!)

  • Matching game in the tent (Yes, Nana was in the tent too)

  • Wiggles and snuggling

  • Red Rover with the bugs, lizards, and snakes

  • Lunch and video

  • 1st bath in Nana's big bath tub (Emma has outgrown the sink)

Here are my favorite shots from our morning together.

Fruit Loop Sweater for Emma

Here is my latest finished product - a summer top for Emma. It is a pattern by Pixie Purls titled "Fruit Loop." I knitted it in a cotton blend in watermelon colors. The size 3 fits her perfectly. I also knitted another in a pale aqua blue. How cute is this?

Dinner with family

We ate dinner at the Hansen's this evening and had a wonderful meal and visit. John grilled hamburgers and several varieties of sausage that we all enjoyed. Emma had fun with cousins Jayla and Brendon. Here are some photos I took of them today.

Sweater for Emma - Work in Progress

I am knitting a sweater for Emma in a yarn blend of cotton and acrylic. It is hot pink and orange with a rolled collar and hem. I crocheted some leaves and flowers to decorate the front and am embellishing it with some cute hot pink ladybug buttons. The pictures show it as I laid out the flowers and pinned them prior to blocking.

Lunch at Nana's House

Emma and Molly stopped by this morning for a visit. Emma played with Playdoh, paints, stamps, markers, and Nana let her use a pair of scissors (small blunt ones for children) and learned how to cut paper. Here are some pictures of her pretty blue eyes that I captured while she was eating lunch.

Pigtails

Emma's hair has grown long enough know to put in pigtails. She likes to have her hair fixed this way. Molly was travelling last week, so Bjarne fixed Emma's hair this way each day for school. She told me today that, "Daddy fixes my pigtails."

Visit to Greenville

Dan and I drove to Greenville today to see Robert, Emily, and Bobby and their new home. Here are my favorite shots of Bobby today. He is such a sweet baby! Emily and Robert have a wonderful home in a beautiful neighborhood. There is a great backyard for Bobby with the added bonus of squirrels. I am so glad to have them near by.

Bobby Howell

Here are some pictures I took of Bobby this week. He is such a good baby and he is always on the move. We are blessed to have him living close now so we can spend more time with him.

Hello Bobby!

Matt, Dan and I are at Sullivan's Island this week visiting with Emily, Robert, and Bobby. Emmy and Robert rented a beach house for their first month back in the US. Bobby is such a happy and easy going baby. Emily is expecting a brother or sister for Bobby and shared the news with us when we arrived. Here is a photo I shot of Bobby sitting on Uncle Matty's lap. He has the cutest blond curls.

Sunday morning on Nana's porch

Emma and Nana logged some time this nice Sunday morning painting and rocking on the back porch. Both of us were in our pajamas!

So Sweet...

Molly, Bjarne, and Emma came over for dinner this evening. Dan grilled out steaks and we enjoyed them with roasted asparagus and a tomato/basil/mozzarella cheese/red onion salad.

Emma came over all dressed up in a smocked dress and sweater that I gave her. She looked so soft and sweet dressed in these pastel colors. After strawberry cupcakes for dessert, Emma changed into pajama's. She and Matty retired to Matty's room so Emma could "reorganize" his CD and video game collection. That kept her busy for quite a while.

I shot these cute photos before dinner on the back porch. She is holding a tiny stuffed panda bear and a blue platypus. Molly brought the platypus back when she returned from Kansas City this week.

African Flower

Here is my latest effort. The crochet pattern is called African Flower. I found it on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/elizabethcat/4483316073/in/faves-44396632@N03/ and was inspired by the beautiful color and pattern. I have 7 hexagons completed and attached together. Now that I see how it is coming together, I think it will really be beautiful. I am putting it to the side to finish my Sunburst project this weekend.

Hexagons

Here is another crochet pattern that I found very interesting. It came from the same Internet source as the Ripple pattern - http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/hexagon-howto.html.

I am using scraps left over from the hats I knit for Emma and Bobby and yarn from my stash. The yarn is a very soft washable wool - Cascade 220 Superwash. I love this yarn and it comes in such wonderful colors. I don't have a set color scheme and just pick from random for each hexagon with a color combination that appeals to me. I am designing as I go. What fun!

Current Project Collage

I put this collage together on my current project to post to a Flickr group. The pattern is called Sunburst. So far I have 42 blocks done and put together - 14 more to go!

Ripple Blanket

Here is another finished project! A rainbow ripple blanket made with Cascade 220 Superwash yarn and a pattern that I found on the Internet http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/neat-ripple-pattern.html. Lucy, the author of this blog, has an eye for color that pleases me and her instructions are very easy to follow. This is actually the second one I have made. Emma liked the first one and took it home with her a few weeks ago. This pattern is very easy and relaxing to work.

Play Time on Sunday

Emma played with Nana's toys. Her favorites today were the Rocking Dragon and some alphabet M&M like stringing beads.
