March 17 - St. Patrick's Day Four Leaf Clover and Bobby's 3rd Birthday Party

St. Patrick's Day - Four Leaf Clover
Here is the POTD - a four leaf clover that Dan handed me when I pulled in the driveway from the drive back from Bobby's birthday party in Greenville today.  He found it when walking the dog.  I took over 300 shots at Bobby's birthday party and have not yet had time to pick my favorites.  I uploaded them to Shutterfly - http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8AauXDRi5as2eC .  You can view them there.  It was a great party loaded with 3 year olds and fun!  The weather cooperated for back yard fun.

I finished the poster project that I have been working on for Bobby's 3rd birthday party on Saturday.  I lined them up on the back porch to take some photos before I packed them up for the trip to Greenville.

March 14 - More Herbs

I purchased some more herbs for my herb garden expansion today and took some shots of some of the new additions.

Painting by Bobby I received in the mail this week

Emma

Emma pointing our a "shooting star" (airplane)
My photographs from today include a shot of our new garden flag blowing in the breeze, a painting Bobby made me, and a couple of shots of Emma sitting on our back porch.  We enjoyed a sleep over with Emma last night.  The second shot of her pointing was when she found a "shooting star" (airplane) in the sky.

March 6 - Posters

Emily asked me to make some posters for Bobby's 3rd birthday party scheduled for March 17.  The theme of the party is "Little Explorers."  I am working on the second poster now and having fun designing them.

March 5 - The Yarn Shop is Closed plus more Charlie

Dan and I were out and about today and decided on a stop at a yarn shop in Pineville.  Bummer, the shop is closed on Sundays and Mondays.

Here are some more pictures of Charlie that I took today.  He is very difficult to photograph as he is so dark and blends in to the background.  He is growing so fast... just look at his long legs now!  He has the sweetest disposition the last picture shows it.

March 4 - Cranberry and Orange Muffins

Cranberry and Orange Muffins
For Sunday brunch I made a batch of Cranberry and Orange Muffins.  I forgot to sprinkle the tops with sugar before putting them into the oven to bake, so a drizzled them with a sugar glaze after they came out.

These shots were taken from the front corner of our yard of the cart path that runs beside our home.  The Bradford pear trees that line the path just started to bloom today.  Notice the robin at the bottom left of the center shot... spring is here!

March 2 - Trip to the Garden Center

I hope to get out and work on expanding my herb garden this weekend... weather permitting.  I plan to expand it this year.  Dan and I made a trip to Home Depot's garden center today.  I scouted out some things I like and bought some rosemary.  I am planning for rosemary, thyme, basil, Italian parsley along with a few others.  I always have a bumper crop of basil, as I use it all the time.  Last year we had a bumper crop of grape tomatoes, but I have read that these plants are poisonous for dogs... Too bad, as we enjoyed them last year.  We installed an invisible fence at the end of last year, so the dogs will have free access now to our back yard, porch and patio.

February 29 - Photo of the day project, 2 months completed!

Sunlight shining through the stained glass hanging in our gathering room

Detail from a wall hanging I made that hangs in our gathering room

Antique salt cellar on the pie safe in our back hall
This completes at least on photo a day for the first 2 months of 2012!  I am definitely getting more comfortable and familiar with my camera.  Many of the photos I capture are in low light conditions and I can see some improvement in my skills with all this practice.  I hope to keep it up for the remaining 10 months of this year.
